Happy Yorkshire Day!

Hello everyone!

A good few years ago, I applied for a sample of Yorkshire Tea from their website and ever since every year I have received birthday cards and the odd sample here and there, but yesterday's card was a little different!

August 1st is known as Yorkshire Day, so along with a sticker in the card they challenged me to help spread the word by taking a photo of me the sticker and spreading it across social media with the hashtag #yorkshireday ! Unfortunately I am feeling so under the weather I didn't want you all to see my ill face, so I got creative and stuck it on my neighbours fence instead!

Happy #Yorkshireday everyone!

Superdrug: Dead Sea Mud Mask

After a recent trip to Superdrug I had picked up one of their own brand face masks, this one specifically being the Dead Sea Mud Mask. I was really excited to try this product as the description said that it's for unclogging pores, drawing out dirt, oil and impurities and is to leave the skin feeling soft and revitalised. For me, it was a perfect product and I couldn't wait to try it!

Now, I applied the mask as it said and took it off after 13 minutes by rinsing with warm soapy water. As I looked in the mirror afterwards and was absolutely horrified, my skin was red raw and becoming and itchy mess! Honestly, I was at a loss of what to do, I ended up taking an antihistamine, applying a cold flannel to my face and hoping for the best!

It took around two hours for my face to return to a somewhat normal colour and even now 24 hours later my skin is still feeling slightly irritable.

I didn't want to make this a bad post but I think after trying many other face masks this one is definitely going straight in the bin, sometimes paying that little bit more for the quality goes a long way! I really hope that this doesn't happen to anyone else, but do let me know in the comments if you have ever experienced anything similar to this!

Summer Time Smoothie!

Hello everyone!

If you live in the UK at the moment you'll be experiencing this lovely heat wave we're having! Keeping hydrated in the sun is one of the most important things as your body needs fluids to keep you feeling good, your skin hydrated and it will keep you from feeling dizzy and ill. I drink a lot of water myself, but sometimes it's nice to mix it up a bit and have something else, like a fresh homemade smoothie!

The smoothie I made today is a banana, strawberry and blueberry mixture, and for someone who doesn't like blueberries or bananas, it tastes great!

What you will need for this recipe is:

A blender
A handful of strawberries
A handful of blueberries
Half a banana
A cup of ice
Fresh fruit juice (optional)

The blender I'm using for this smoothie is the Prolex 17 piece blender, it also acts a juicer and a vegetable dicer. I picked it up from BnM's for just £20! Which for a blender is so cheap! Argos also sell some cheap blenders if you're new to making smoothies, but don't feel as if you have to splash out on a NutriBullet for example, as they all do the same job!

First thing you want to do is thoroughly wash your strawberries and blueberries, I also chop the stems off of the strawberries but you don't have to as they do contain some healthy nutrients, just make sure that they're washed!

After washing your fruit you can add that to your cup so it's out of your way and ready for the blender. Next I add half of my banana into my cup along with my ice.  Finally I add a splash of fresh fruit juice as it makes the smoothie not as thick.

And finally, it's time to blend your fruit!

I blend my smoothie on and off for a minute just to make sure that the ice is fully chopped up and the fruit is all blended up!

Finally, all you have to do is serve your smoothie into your choice of cup. As it's summer time, and I like to be in the summer mood as much as possible I enjoy to have mine in my Kilner Jars.

And voila! A fresh homemade smoothie made in under ten minutes.

Will you be trying this smoothie this summer? Do you have any recipes that I could try?

Ang-Jo’s Handmade Crafts and Gifts became an idea to my mum after her many years of sewing experience; it was something that she did not want to give up so she continued to make these gorgeous products to sell to everyone.

These key rings are absolutely gorgeous and can really make your key chain feel that little bit more girly!

These are natural baby teethers.
These rings are 2.5 inch and made from natural maple hardwood. The ring is smooth and just waiting to be grabbed, chewn and thrown without worry of chemicals, paints, plastics or lacquer. Attached is cotton fabric which has inner crinkle material to make a rustling noise. Great for babies to learn new textures and sounds.

These gorgeous designs are baby taggies.
These make a rustling noise when grasped. These are washer/dryer safe and EN71 & CPSIA compliant.

All of these products and more are available over at Ang-Jo's Handmade Crafts & Gifts Facebook Page,be sure to give the page a like and a share! Motivational Monday | #1

I've been contemplating starting this little sector called 'Motivational Monday' on Cheshire Lane for a while and today whilst having a really productive day at college I thought to myself I can only try!

So, welcome to the first Motivational Monday! Today I came to the realisation that everything is not as bad as it seems and no matter how hard things get, it does get better! And I thought of this because of listening to one song by the ginger God himself, Ed Sheeran.

Ed Sheeran is the singer for the official song for The Fault In Our Stars movie that is coming out soon and being a big fan of his I was very excited when a little video popped up in my subscription box and it was the official song for the film 'All Of The Stars'. I just love it! I'm a big music fanatic myself and I think an artist like Ed Sheeran getting this big opportunity for a film that's going to be huge is amazing!

My god, I do love to ramble but yes, that song just made me think, 'Jode you're going to get nowhere sat on your arse all day moaning that nothings going right', so today I decided to change that.

There are many things that I wanted/still want to accomplish this year and the main one was getting fit; so after having a little inspirational search through Instagram I decided that that's it. So today I went to The Range and picked up some very cute Mason Jars. Sounds a bit stupid but I'm one for drinking a lot of water during the day and I thought I wanted to mix it up a bit by infusing it with lemons and if I want to motivate myself I want to make sure I'm enjoying doing it. So a little splurge on some cute Mason Jars were done and I've been drinking lemon and water all afternoon, it's not much, but it's a start! I'm also off on my first run of the year in a minute, so wish me luck haha!

I'm sorry I've rambled on a bit here guys but there was a lot I needed to get off of my chest in such a short time to write this post.
If any of you have anything you'd like to see be featured on Motivational Monday posts then please do leave me a comment! Now, go listen to Ed Sheeran's new song here and have a lovely evening!

Garnier Moisture Match

Happy Thursday everyone -  Yes it's nearly Friday!
Today I've got a little review for you all. I've been using this product for such a long while now and I thought it definitely needs a space on the blog.

Around Christmas time my face was unfortunately awfully dry, no matter how much I tried to cover it up with make-up and god knows what, it just wasn't working so I popped into Superdrug whilst on a shopping trip and picked up the Garnier Moisture Match for Normal to Dry Skin.

Now, I had tried this before as I had received sample sachets of each of the different moisturisers in the post and I was just so fed up with my skin that I thought, sod it I'm going to buy the full size one, so I did! And
well, it’s been an absolute god send!

After using it for around 5 months now, the dry patches have amazingly cleared from my face, I’ll admit for the first month or so I was a bit like ‘oh, is this worth it?’ but I’ll tell you now girls, it definitely is!
The product itself is a very thick and heavy moisturiser but it sits on the skin well and doesn't leave you with a sticky residue in the morning - I've had some problems with this with other moisturisers in the past.
There are five different moisturisers in the collection from Garnier, catering for all skin types and at £5.99 it’s definitely worth it!

You can buy the product here

from Superdrug.

Let me know in the comments if any of you have ever tried any of the Garnier Moisture Match’s, I’d love to know how you all got on!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Barry M Collection!

Now it's no surprise that I absolutely love nail varnishes and today I wanted to share with you all my Barry M collection. I only have 8 polishes as I'm so very picky with the colours I choose but I will venture out and try something more daring soon - promise!
Left to right: Caramel, Papaya, Meadow, Strawberry, Berry, Blue Moon, Mushroom & Matt White

Caramel is from the Barry M Matte Collection and I absolutely love the finish texture of the polish, if love the feel of a gorgeous matte but smooth texture, then I'd definitely urge you to go out and grab yourself one of these polishes!
Papaya is my only Gelly Hi-Shine polish I own and I must say the colour is gorgeous, a bright vibrant peach is perfect for summer and the gel finish definitely does the colour justice!
Meadow is of the new Silk collection by Barry M and oh my gosh, I'm definitely going to be buying more of these polishes. The Silk collection have a shimmer finish to them and they look gorgeous on your nails, an absolute god send from Barry M!
The other 7 colours are just your standard Barry M nail polishes and they are great, they come in so many different colours so cater for everyone's taste, they're fantastic. My favourite that I own at the moment is definitely Berry. Berry is a gorgeous purple tone and again looks great on the nails, especially for summer!

I hope you enjoyed my Barry M Nail collection guys! I'd love to see some pictures of your collections too! Tweet me over at @Cheshire_Lane I'd love to see them!

What I've Been Loving This Week #2

Hello everyone!

So it seems that silly me was a little too busy last week to blog, but never fear I'm back! I've decided to do What I've Been Loving This Week every two weeks so it can fit in around the other segments I have to put up!

So let's get on with it, here's what I've been loving the past two weeks!

Barry M Matte Nail Varnish in Caramel - I've been intrigued by the Barry M Matte Nail Varnish collection for a while so I recently went out to Superdrug and had a little look. In the collection their are 5 warm winter colours, Espresso, Burgundy Crush, Caramel, Vanilla and Mocha. The colours are very simple yet can just add the spark to your nails. I love the matte finish that they give off, and even if you don't like the matte finish you can just throw a top coat on and it feels like normal varnish. I would recommend these highly and for only £3.99, who could say no?

Calvin Klein CKIN2U For Her - This perfume is one that I have been loving for a good few years now, and I recently received two bottles of it for Christmas. The smell of this perfume is described as fresh floral with a woody oriental base. I can't actually sense the woody oriental base, but it is definitely of a fresh floral scent! I would definitely recommend this product to every that loves fresh scents! The prices range from around £12 - £24 for this product, depending on where you go. But it's been on offer in the perfume shop lately, so go check it out!

The Body Shop, Strawberry Body Butter - After going shopping just after Christmas The Body Shop had 3 for 2 going on, so I picked up a few (maybe more) items, and the Strawberry Body Butter was one of them. This body butter smells so lush and applies so well, it's definitely going to be a product I'm going to be repurchasing! On their website this is currently £13, but I'm sure you can get them in sets for a cheaper price with more products.

So there we have it, this is what I've been loving this week!
Have you used any of these products? And what have you been loving these past few weeks? Let me know in the comments below!

What I've Been Loving This Week #1

Well hello there everyone, and welcome to a brand new weekly post that I'm going to be writing! I came up with the idea of a mid week loving post, because I thought why not let my readers know what I've been loving the past week, and post mid week so you can all have a little something to read.

So every week on a Wednesday I'm going to be letting you know what products have been on my agenda and why I've been loving them!

Nail Polish Remover Pads - These little pads are a god send, I can't rave about them enough! If you're out and about, or at my case in college and your nail varnish on just ONE nail decides to chip (Own up everyone, it's happened to all of us!) With a few quick swipes of one of these pads, the nail varnish is off and you can quickly apply another coat, all in the space of 15 minutes, and no one will ever know! The only downfall about these pads is they smell a little bit like acetone - even though they're acetone free, but just not as harsh or as strong. I buy mine from Superdrug and they're £1.39 for a small pot of 20. Did I mention they're also the perfect hand bag size?!

Maybelline - The Falsies - Now, I've seen everyone going on about this mascara and for me it is a reoccurring re-purchase. I, myself have naturally long eye lashes, so I use the falsies just to spread them evenly out and get an all over even lash look. This must be the only mascara I've ever re-purchased that doesn't give me clumpy lashes, and it’s fabulous! The falsies are available at both Boots and Superdrug for only £7.00 - BARGAIN!

Garnier Moisture Match - I picked this product up on a whim when I saw it was on offer for like £2.99 instead of £5.99, I saw the price reduction and I thought, why not?! I had heard good things about it, so I took the plunge and threw it in my basket. I got the blue moisturiser which is the normal to dry skin combination, and I could not fault this product. I've been using it daily as part of my routine both morning and night, and my dry skin is being kept under control and slowly starting to go away, which is great! The product is a thickish formula that applies smoothly to the face and neck area. I would definitely recommend this line of moisturisers to everybody! And whilst they're still on offer for £2.99, go pick up yours now from your local Superdrug store.

So there we have it everyone, these are the products that I've been loving this week! Let me know if you like this style of post because I can't wait to post one up next week!

What are you current favourites? Let me know in the comments below!

Resolutions 2014

It seems that everyone lately has been talking about their new year resolutions and what they plan to do in 2014; so I thought I'd give it a go and share my resolutions with you all!

Travel

First off, I want to travel! I'm currently planning a week away for the summer but I'm lost with where to go on such a budget, (£700 it sounds a lot, but it will get me as far as Spain right now!) I've been to Greece, Ireland, Spain, Cyprus and Denmark in the past, but I would love to venture out and go somewhere that I've never been before and that is a bit out of the ordinary!

Get a job!
Now, you probably know what I'm getting onto here just by the title, but having no income is a downer and there's only so much time until your birthday and christmas money run out; so getting a job is definitely on the cards for me. I've worked in coffee shops and pubs before on the weekends but I finish college in 6 months and as I'm not going to university so I need to look for a full-time job - YAWN!

Enjoy Myself!
2013 was a stressful, stressful year for both me and my family and I do not want 2014 to be the same. So I'm taking the majority of this year to look after myself, whether that means a cheeky spa break here and there, or a relaxing weekend at home filled with wine and chocolate. Well, whatever it is I'm going to look after myself and not let things get the better of me anymore!

Well there you go, my 3 small resolutions for 2014! I know this was a little small for a weekly blog post, but I will try and upload throughout the week if I can.

What are your resolutions for 2014? Let me know in the comments below!

Budget Buys MUA - Eye Shadow Palette

Hello everyone!
Welcome to 2014 everyone, I hope you all had a lovely Christmas; mine was spent eating way to much food and sleeping for England!

As its January, everyone seems to be on budget buys; including myself, so I popped down to my local Superdrug where I treated myself to a few of these buys. I’d always been intrigued by MUA (Makeup Academy) and how their products are of such reasonable pricing, but they’re always sold out so I took the advantage of when their products were back in store and bought myself of their 12 shade eye shadow palettes.

The palette I bought is their Undress Me Too palette and it includes 12 absolutely gorgeous everyday shades. The size of the palette is no bigger than my mobile phone so it’s a great piece for your travel makeup bags too as it can just slot into your bag with no hassle and it includes a small brush, nice one MUA!

From L-R Top Row: Naked, Devotion, Shy, Fiery, Lavish, Dreamy
From L-R Bottom Row: Tranquil, Exposed, Reveal, Wink, Obsessed, Corrupt

The colour’s Naked, Shy, Lavish, Tranquil, Reveal and Obsessed are colours that I would use as a  base coat, and then I would add one of the other six colours on top of the first eye shadow as they are more shimmery to really blend and contour the eye shadow. For example, I would put Naked on first to cover my entire lid, then either Devotion or Fiery to blend through my crease and the outer of my eye, and then corrupt to line the lid instead of eye liner.

I could be busy with these 12 shadows for hours, there is so many different ways you can use this palette and that’s what makes it a fantastic budget buy at only £4! The eye shadows for me last around 3-6 hours before I have to apply some more to my lid, but that’s a decent amount of time and wear out of the shadows!

Have you ever purchased anything from MUA? What were your thoughts, I’d love to know in the comments below! Also, if you’ve found any great budget buys please tweet me over at @Cheshire_Lane !
